Wreaths and Flowers

Melissa was passionate and knowledgeable about flowers. I, on the other hand, like most men, can identify some of them some of the time. A few weeks before she left us, she had applied for a scholarship for an online course with Floret, a very successful flower farm out in Washington. The day before she died, Melissa received notification that she did not win the full scholarship ($2000 value) but had received a partial ($300) scholarship. She was disappointed but thankful for the ladies at the course and hoping to go to the course next year. That night and the next morning she showed me some videos about the farm and why they were having the course...to help flower farmers get going in their pursuit...to pay it forward for the help they got when starting out. Of course the next day, she departed us.

About a week or so later, I contacted the Floret folks and told them what happened and also told them that I had no clue about growing flowers so I asked if they could recommend one resource (book or something) to get me started. A kind lady there wrote back and said she had remembered Melissa's application and was touched by it, especially the part about her having to leave flower gardens all around the world for almost 40 years. She also said Melissa had been in the top 10 finalists for the scholarship. Well, wouldn't you know they offered me and my family a full scholarship! So, I'm going to go to their online school to learn to be a flower farmer. Imagine THAT!

God has blessed me in so many ways through this most difficult of times and the generosity of people continues to amaze me.

I would invite you to visit the Floret web page and see what they are doing. Very well done.
